OffLeaseOnly Used Cars Appeal to All Ages

A recent survey of OffLeaseOnly used car buying trends shows that OffLeaseOnly used cars — priced thousands below retail — appeal equally to car buyers of all ages, no matter where the dealership is located.

A five-month survey of current OffLeaseOnly sales statistics shows that the company’s used car sales are distributed evenly over all age groups. Sales statistics for five distinct age groups were all within four percentage points of each other, whether the dealership was located in Palm Beach, Miami or Orlando.

OffLeaseOnly, the highest volume independent used car dealer in Florida, offers a gigantic and ever-changing inventory of over 3,000 low-mileage used cars for sale that range from high end luxury brands like Mercedes, BMW and Lexus to American classics like Chevrolet, Ford and Chrysler and Asian imports such as Toyota, Hyundai, Mazda and Kia.

The huge selection offers something for every age, every taste and every price range, as evidenced by recent sales figures.

To conduct the study, OffLeaseOnly compared used car buying trends for the following age groups: 17-24; 25-34;35-44; 45-54; and 55+ and discovered that no matter which dealership the used car buyer shopped at or what age group they belonged to, sales figures were nearly the same, with a maximum difference of 4 percent.

For example, the 45 to 54 year old age range composed 24 percent of Lake Worth’s used car sales, 24 percent of Miami’s used car sales, and 23 percent of Orlando’s used car sales for the five-month period reviewed. Statistics for the 35 to 44 year old age group were similar: Lake Worth, 22 percent; Miami, 25 percent; Orlando, 23 percent.OffLeaseOnly The Nation's Used Car Destination

The 25 to 34-year-old age range also tracked similarly, composing 23 percent of Lake Worth’s used car sales and 24 percent of Orlando’s used car sales. Miami’s used car sales total for that age group was slightly higher, at 26 percent.

Used car sales for the 55+ age group was slightly lower for Miami, at 18 percent, but sales figures remained consistent in Lake Worth and Orlando, at 23 percent and 21 percent respectively.

OffLeaseOnly Palm Beach sales manager Floyd Roberts wasn’t remotely surprised by the even distribution of used car sales over all age groups.

“I feel like everyone appreciates saving money,” Roberts said. “The banks love our business model so OffLeaseOnly has more of a chance of offering customers the very best car financing rates. Our success is based on the way our cars are priced. Our cars are typically priced thousands below any other dealer in the Nation!”

And whether used car buyers are 55 years or older, middle aged or just out of college, everyone appreciates saving money, Roberts said.

Palm Beach sales manager Greg Taber wasn’t surprised either that the distribution of car buying was evenly spread over all age groups.

“Customers have been checking out our website for years and they check it out three or four times a week,” Taber said. “It’s like opening a new McDonalds. People already know about the product. Now it’s just more convenient.”

According to OffLeaseOnly sales associate Robert Palermo, two-thirds of OffLeaseOnly business comes from repeat customers and referrals. That car buyers from all age groups would logically follow, Palermo said.

“Someone comes in to buy a car and then tells one of two groups – their own age group and their family. The ages are varied. We tend to get everyone in the family because of our prices,” Palermo said. “As a result of that, our sales are evenly distributed.

Another reason for the even distribution is the huge selection of makes and models.

“We have highline cars such as BMW and Mercedes – those buyers tend to be more affluent,” Palermo said. “Younger buyers are looking for something a little more cost efficient. Due to our selection we truly appeal to everyone looking for a car under $10,000 to a luxury car over $100,000! The most universal appeal is saving money. There is something for everyone here.”

Buying habits of each county’s diverse population are also unaffected by the greatly varying demographics of each geographic location where OffLeaseOnly dealerships are located.

2013 U.S. Census figures show that Miami-Dade County is 65.5 percent Hispanic or Latino; Palm Beach County is 50 percent white/non-Latino, 18.5 percent African American/black and 20.3 percent Hispanic/Latino; and Orange County (Orlando) is 44 percent white/non-Latino, 28.7 percent Hispanic or Latino, and 22 percent African American/black.

Miami Sales Manager Angel Velez said saving money is a universal benefit that translates across all ages, ethnicities and income levels . And with OffLeaseOnly great prices and great selection of used vehicles, Velez expected sales statistics to be pretty well distributed.

The Puerto Rican native also wasn’t surprised Miami’s percentage of used car buyers over age 55 was slightly lower than other areas because older residents of the highly Hispanic/Latino area tend to keep their cars longer.

“The average Latin person around that age has a tendency to keep their cars a little bit longer than the typical American family,” Velez said. “A lot of them here in the metropolitan area are already on a fixed income and it may not be in their budget to be switching cars every couple years.”

Miami sales associate Ray Rodriguez, a car salesman for two years, has sold cars to the young, the old and the middle aged at OffLeaseOnly .

“I have seen the dreamers who are less than 18 coming to find their first car for when they turn of age and then I see those who say they are looking for the last car they will probably ever buy in their lifetime,” Rodriguez said.

He added, “Everybody likes a good deal. We are not really targeting one person. We are targeting everyone who doesn’t want to spend too much money out of their wallet. At the end of the day, a good price speaks to all generations.”
