Affordable Luxury: 2015 2017 GMC Terrain

In the compact SUV category, image is everything. Some are sporty, some look expensive and some of them look like they can go off road (even though they probably can’t/shouldn’t). The 2015, 2016 & 2017 GMC Terrain is one of the expensive looking compact CUVs, that’s been designed to give buyers a luxury experience. But without the high prices and maintenance cost of something like a BMW X3 or Lexus NX. And if you check out the inventory at, you’ll find many examples of the 2015, 2016 & 2017 GMC Terrain for sale, at unbelievably affordable prices. So let’s take a look at everything you need to know before you buy a used GMC Terrain.

What is a GMC Terrain?

Okay, first things first; the 2015 – 2017 GMC Terrain is a compact CUV that plays in the premium end of the SUV pool. It’s available in five trim levels: SL, SLE-1, SLE-2, SLT and the top of the line GMC Terrain Denali. Here’s a brief outline of what you get with each trim package:

2015, 2016 & 2017 GMC Terrain SL: 18 inch wheels, power driver seat, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system.

2015, 2016 & 2017 GMC Terrain SLE-1: This upgrade basically makes AWD available.

2015, 2016 & 2017 GMC Terrain SLE-2: This package gets upgraded exterior trim with LED lighting, automatic climate control, upgraded front seats, a pioneer audio system and upgraded infotainment. Heated front seats and remote engine start were optional on this trim.

2015, 2016 & 2017 GMC Terrain SLT: This high-end model gets more chrome trim on the outside, upgraded wheels, leather seats and ambient interior lighting.

Options available for the GMC Terrain SLT & SLE-2 included blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert, lane departure and forward collision warning, navigation and a power lift gate. Later production models were available as the GMC Terrain Nightfall, which included blacked out exterior trim and wheels.

2015, 2016 & 2017 GMC Terrain Denali: This top shelf model got an absolutely ginormous looking chrome grill, unique exterior trim and wheels, a softer suspension, unique interior trim with leather upholstery, along with most of the equipment and options listed above.
